Singapore’s tuition industry is one of the most robust in the world. Walk through any shopping centres and you’ll find enrichment centres. Open any parent WhatsApp group and tuition recommendations are a weekly topic. For many families, it’s simply part of the education landscape.
But not every student has the same starting point.
That’s part of what motivated this project — and also why we’re sharing it openly.

What Can She Do?
Ms. Lee isn’t a generic chatbot. She’s been purpose-built for the kind of English practice that Singapore students actually need:
- Comprehension practice — passage-based questions calibrated to Cambridge standards
- Summary writing — guided practice with feedback on what to include and what to cut
- Composition prompts — creative writing tasks with structured guidance
- Personalised feedback — she remembers your past sessions and adjusts to where you are
Over time, she learns your patterns — the kinds of mistakes you tend to make, the areas where you’re improving — and uses that to guide what she focuses on with you next. It’s a level of personalisation that usually takes months for a tutor to develop.
How Was This Built?
Full transparency: Ms. Lee was built as a personal learning project — an exercise in understanding how modern AI systems can be applied to real-world educational problems.
The tech stack includes Firebase for the backend, Anthropic’s Claude as the AI brain, a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system that pulls contextually relevant questions from a purpose-built question bank, and a cohort intelligence layer that picks up on common mistakes across students and uses them to sharpen Ms. Lee’s responses over time.
It was built across several weekends. Every component was deliberately chosen, tested, and refined — not as a commercial product, but as a genuine attempt to understand what AI-assisted learning could look like if it were designed thoughtfully and made accessible to everyone.
Why Free?
Because it should be.
Good practice materials, timely feedback, and a patient tutor who’s available at 11pm the night before an exam — these things make a real difference. Ms. Lee doesn’t replace a great human teacher, but for students who want more practice, more feedback, and more support outside school hours, she’s here.
