About
I’m Mark.
I write this site. There is no editorial team hiding behind the loon.
Learning Loons used to introduce itself as a lifelong-learning brand for “fun learning facts and educational shorts,” with a tagline that ran life long learningand Bite-Sized Learning into itself. That was the WordPress theme talking. I am a writer in Singapore. I publish essays here, and I keep a short shelf of tools I have actually built.
What this site is
A reading room. Newer pieces tend to be long: death and TV, hoarding, money, faith, sobriety, teens, confinement, the tuition industry. Older study-skill notes are still here if they help someone, but they are not the front of the house.
What I will cover
- How people learn — memory, language, school, AI as a tutor rather than a personality.
- Parenting and Singapore classrooms, including ADHD and autism, without turning them into SEO tags.
- Mind and meaning: the series on wanting it all, sharing, scarcity, giving up.
- Small builds that already live off this site (Telegram, Firebase), described honestly.
What I will not cover
- A kids’ fact mill, or a promise of daily educational shorts. Video is a separate problem.
- A SkillsFuture course catalogue. The word showed up in the old meta description. It is not the job of this site.
- Comments, membership, or a shop. There were none worth keeping.
